Oh Christmas Tree!

Oh Christmas Tree!

It’s that time of year again! Family gatherings, delicious feasts, room full of laughter and that intense desire to DECORATE! I don’t know about you, but the very DAY after Thanksgiving, my husband knows to go straight to the garage and get the obviously red for reason storage bins down from the rafters! Why you ask? Well, because we’re getting our Christmas tree! My husband and I have made it a tradition for our little family to go to a “choose and cut” Christmas tree farm & hunt for a tree but not just ANY tree….the PERFECT tree. The one that will fill our living room with the fresh smell of pine, that will wear our family’s favorite ornaments, and shelter our gifts. There is nothing like finding “THE” tree, cutting it down, bringing it home, & having a night of decorating. 🙂 If you have never journeyed to a Christmas Tree Farm to cut down your own tree…it’s NEVER too late to start. (I HIGHLY recommend making this a memory to share with someone you love.) Below, I have listed several “Choose & Cut” Farms and for those who would rather select a pre-cut tree, no worries, I have listed a handful of Pre-Cut Christmas Tree farms as well! (My gift to you is a YUMMY salted caramel hot cocoa recipe  at the end! Enjoy)

Enjoy my FAVORITE recipe for Caramel Hot Cocoa!

Caramel Hot Chocolate

Yield: 2 Servings (recipe can easily be doubled)

  • 2 cups milk, preferably whole
  • 1/4 – 1/2 cup bittersweet chocolate chips (I recommend Ghirardelli)*
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce, (your choice)
  • Sweetened whipped cream or vanilla marshmallows
  • Grated chocolate for garnish, optional
  • Caramel Sauce

  • Prepare caramel sauce according to directions listed and allow to cool slightly. Heat milk in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Once milk is warm, stir in chocolate chips and caramel, and cook whisking constantly until chocolate has melted. Allow to cool slightly and serve warm topped, topped with sweetened whipped cream or miniature marshmallows, drizzle each serving with 1 Tbsp caramel sauce and garnish with grated chocolate if desired.
  • *For a richer hot chocolate, you can use up to 1/2 cup bittersweet chocolate chips and mix in more caramel sauce as well if desired.

These are just a few of the available Christmas Tree Farms in our area, but in the end it’s not where we go, it’s who we are with that makes the memory special.

Happy Holidays from The Rachel Adams Lee Group!
