Shake it up and get healthy

As we get closer to summer we all look for the next fad that will help us get skinny quick. We all know there is no magic pill you take or some fad diet that will get you there quicker. The best way to lose pounds and tighten up your body for swimwear weather is to be active and eat healthy. Watching your waistline is as simple as that, and more then anything its what you eat that will define what you look like in a few months.

Now with that being said, what is the best things to eat that will keep you slim and happy? A Balance diet always helps which we all know is hard to do in our go-go lifestyles. Smoothies are the perfect fill for our on the run lives. I have been drinking them for the last 4 months and love the easy healthy alternative I have now for a meal. They are not only good for you, they are easily transportable and can be whipped up quickly with all the things you need for the day.

So lets talk about Shaking it up in 2019, and why I am in love with this new trend for a healthy and better you.

First of all lets talk about the equipment that is best for making healthy shakes.

The NutriBullet Pro: This baby is from the makers of the magic bullet and is small and compact so it doesn’t take up room on your kitchen counter. We use this thing once a day and man can it blend up a smoothie. It has a 1.2 Horsepower engine that does 25,000 RPM’s. That means drinks are being blended and blended fast. They also come with a complete recipe book for smoothies and drinks that will for sure trim you down and have you wanting more. The other great thing about them is that they are not that expensive. You can have one sent to you directly from there website with free shipping and handling for $79.95. The only negative about this product is that it is only a single serving so if your making it for more then one you will have to blend a couple times. I have included a link to their website for all the info on this great product.

The Vitamix 5200: This is the top of the line in the blending world. This has the most powerful motor and can pretty                 much blend anything you throw in front of it. It has stainless steel blades so they are very durable and they can even turn cold soup into hot soup just by the friction of the blades. This comes with a full recipe book as well and can do much more then just blend smoothies. The only negative about this is that it is expensive. You do get what you pay for and what you get is the best and that costs around $400 on Amazon. Included is the link to their website where you can read all about the product.

So since we have went over what equipment to use I think it would only be appropriate if we went over some of my favorite recipes that get your day started off with a boost. Everyone has different tastes, and likes their smoothies different ways. So to help you I have one healthy option, an one great tasting option that is healthy too but has a little more sugar because of the fruit.

Kale-Ginger Smoothie: This one is a favorite of ours because of the kick of the Ginger and the Chia Seeds are so good for you. It also is high in Calcium and low in calories so you get the day started off right.

                1 cup roughly torn Kale

                1 medium sized frozen Banana

                1 cup unsweetened almond milk

1/2 cup reduced fat greek yogurt

                1 Tsp. Chia Seeds

               1/4 ripe Avocado

               1/2 Tsp. peeled fresh Ginger

Strawberry-Banana Walnut Smoothie: This is my own concoction of some great stuff I had in the house one day. The strawberries and bananas blend perfectly and when you throw in the walnuts it gives it a wonderful taste that keeps you full till lunch.

                1 Medium Frozen Banana

                1/2 Cup frozen Strawberries

                1/4 cup Walnuts

1/2 cup Reduced fat greek yogurt

1 scoop of your favorite green boost

                2 scoops of protein powder

                1 cup unsweetened almond milk

In the end the smoothie you make is your choice. Experiment at first and see what goes well together and always make sure to put healthy stuff in there so you feel great after drinking it. I would also suggest getting lots of frozen fruits as they will make the drink nice and cold after it is blended. Also make sure to get protein powder and green boost powder as those will add a lot to the drink without taking up to much room.

Now that I have shared my favorite blenders and drinks please share yours as I would love not know some other options for drinks. Feel free to comment with yours so I can try it out.
